Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.
An important official said the attack made him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
